For almost three decades I have been working on “water” issues; fresh water research, land and water resource management and environmental policy in NZ. I also did a short working stint in the USA and UK. During those years I have worked in the rural sector, forestry, academia, private consultancy; as well as for Local and Central Government.

Programme lead for its predecessor, New Start for Freshwater, including policy programme development. This work formed the policy basis for Fresh Start for Freshwater and the eventual establishment of the Land and Water Forum: www.landandwater.org.nz.

Leader for policy projects for water management reform; including an advisor on science needs to support reform with a focus on policy development for water quality limit setting.

Project team member for allocation and water quality management. This work included preparation of cabinet papers and recommendations to Ministers on work programmes (budget, resources and policy strategy).

OverseerTM: Governance representative and project manager for MPI (MAF). Lead a team around management of contract services from the lead provider AgResearch and relationship management with co-owners Fertilizer Association of New Zealand (FANZ). http://www.overseer.org.nz/
Community Irrigation Fund (CIF): Policy and criteria development for the CIF (Pre cursor to the Irrigation Acceleration Fund (IAF)), including a review of scheme and Regional Council Water Strategy applications. Also appointed to the review panel for Water Strategy funding.
